Position Overview

The role of Senior Groundskeeper is vital in maintaining the aesthetic and spiritual environment of the temple grounds. This position requires a dedicated individual who can uphold the beauty and cleanliness of the area, ensuring it reflects the sacred nature of the temple experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grounds Maintenance: Execute landscaping tasks, including the upkeep of gardens, pathways, and other designated areas.
  • Leadership: Provide guidance and technical support to fellow gardeners and volunteers, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Problem Solving: Address routine inquiries and challenges that arise in the course of daily operations.
  • Seasonal Displays: Assist in the creation and maintenance of seasonal floral arrangements and displays.
  • Lawn Care: Operate both manual and powered mowers to maintain lawns, ensuring adherence to the original landscape design.
  • Plant Care: Prune and shape shrubs and trees to promote healthy growth and enhance the overall beauty of the grounds.
  • Pest Management: Identify pest control issues, implement spray programs, and conduct regular fertilization in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all power tools and machinery are properly serviced and repaired, performing minor maintenance as necessary.
  • Supervision: Oversee temporary and volunteer staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Irrigation Management: Water garden areas and maintain both automated and manual irrigation systems.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Three to five years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various plant species and fertilizers.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

This position is essential for maintaining the sanctity and beauty of the temple grounds, contributing to a serene and welcoming environment for all visitors.
