Job Overview

Aramark Canada is seeking a skilled Baker 1 to join the Dalhousie Food Services team. As a key member of the bakery team, you will be responsible for leading the preparation, execution, and presentation of all items in the Dal Food Services Baker Shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning: Determine production requirements of all bake shop items, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high-quality products.
  • Team Mentoring: Mentor those in positions of lower classifications, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless team performance.
  • Product Preparation: Prepare dough-based products, batter-based products, creams, mousses, frozen desserts, fillings, icings, savory and sweet pastries, and pies.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with other departments and the supervisory team, ensuring seamless collaboration and coordination.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work areas, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Adherence to Policies: Adhere to all Aramark policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Additional Duties: Assist other front-of-house stations as required, performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Ability to execute all duties of a Baker 2, with 2+ years of baking/culinary experience and leadership experience considered an asset.
  • Certifications: Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Baking trade or equivalent is considered an asset, along with valid WHMIS and Food Safe Advanced Certifications.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised, with frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
