POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) plays a pivotal role in fostering a robust Quality Culture within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while managing departmental budgets effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and nurture a proactive Quality Culture across the organization.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the financial management of the department's budget.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on critical EHS issues.
  • Develop and implement management programs and procedures, ensuring their effective execution.
  • Design and manage comprehensive audit programs to guarantee compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee to promote workplace safety.
  • Maintain and coordinate the facility's fire safety plan and first aid program.
  • Develop and implement a response plan for spills and lead the response team.
  • Coordinate emergency response strategies and plans.
  • Design, deliver, and assess training programs for staff.
  • Champion a behavior-based safety initiative to enhance workplace safety culture.
  • Represent Piramal Healthcare (Canada) in relevant industry associations.
  • Collaborate with Piramal Healthcare's corporate group, participating in programs and providing necessary reports.
  • Compile, maintain, and analyze site statistics and reports, offering recommendations for enhancements.
  • Provide safety resources and training materials for departmental safety meetings.
  • Establish and maintain connections with external industry and governmental resources.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their professional growth.
