POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) plays a pivotal role in fostering a robust Quality Culture within the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations while managing departmental budgets effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and nurture a proactive Quality Culture across the organization.
- Lead initiatives to ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations.
- Oversee the financial management of the department's budget.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on critical EHS issues.
- Develop and implement management programs and procedures, ensuring their effective execution.
- Design and manage comprehensive audit programs to guarantee compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee to promote workplace safety.
- Maintain and coordinate the facility's fire safety plan and first aid program.
- Develop and implement a response plan for spills and lead the response team.
- Coordinate emergency response strategies and plans.
- Design, deliver, and assess training programs for staff.
- Champion a behavior-based safety initiative to enhance workplace safety culture.
- Represent Piramal Healthcare (Canada) in relevant industry associations.
- Collaborate with Piramal Healthcare's corporate group, participating in programs and providing necessary reports.
- Compile, maintain, and analyze site statistics and reports, offering recommendations for enhancements.
- Provide safety resources and training materials for departmental safety meetings.
- Establish and maintain connections with external industry and governmental resources.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance their professional growth.
