Course Title: GLA2043HS Real-Time Data for AI and Global Intelligence
Course Synopsis:
This seminar investigates the transformative potential of contemporary digital datasets and AI advancements in addressing significant global challenges. Traditional data often fails to keep pace with reality, is limited, or inadequately reflects the complexities of modern societies. In contrast, the proliferation of data from various sources—such as smartphones and online platforms—provides a wealth of real-time information.

This course will equip students with the knowledge to leverage real-time datasets and AI technologies to identify and address emerging global issues. For instance, the availability of satellite imagery can empower leaders to monitor critical issues like poverty and climate change in near real-time. Additionally, AI tools can analyze vast datasets to uncover hidden resources or assess economic and health risks on a global scale.

Learning Objectives:
Students will engage with non-traditional data and AI tools through discussions, guest lectures, and practical assignments. They will also critically evaluate the implications and challenges of utilizing these tools for real-world analysis, with opportunities to explore the latest developments in AI and their relevance to global affairs.

Course Logistics:

Estimated Enrollment: 25 students
Class Schedule: Thursdays, 10 AM - 12 PM
Delivery Method: In-person, subject to change based on institutional guidelines.

Appointment Dates:

Sessional dates span from January to April.

Compensation:

Salary ranges from $9,457.90 to $10,570.02, depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum: A graduate degree in International Relations is required.
Preferred: Prior teaching experience in this field is advantageous.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include developing course materials, delivering lectures, holding office hours for student support, creating assignments and assessments, and grading student submissions.
