Position Overview

The University of Alberta is seeking a Facilities Asset Management Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is integral to the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA) and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Role Summary

As a Facilities Asset Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the systematic collection, management, and validation of infrastructure asset information throughout its lifecycle. Your expertise will ensure accurate data management and contribute to the overall efficiency of our asset management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough in-field audits to verify and gather information on infrastructure assets, including tagging and cataloguing new equipment.
  2. Document and evaluate asset and facility conditions through visual inspections and investigations, providing cost estimates for deferred maintenance liabilities.
  3. Maintain the VFA deferred maintenance database, ensuring that all requirements are accurately recorded and updated based on the latest assessments.
  4. Oversee the integrity of the infrastructure asset inventory database, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  5. Collaborate with the AssetWorks AiM work management system to manage asset data and support the Preventive Maintenance program.
  6. Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders regarding facilities and infrastructure asset information.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in building design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
  2. Possession of a P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation in good standing with APEGA/ASET.
  3. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural building systems, along with applicable maintenance standards and building codes.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD/Autodesk Revit.
  5. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in cost estimation is highly desirable.
  2. Familiarity with work management or computerized maintenance management systems is an asset.
  3. Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI is advantageous.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement are essential.
  5. Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining professional standards.
