Microbiologist I

We are seeking a highly skilled Microbiologist I to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing analysis on finished products, raw materials, or packaging materials following established methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities- Media Preparation and Testing: Prepare and test media for microbial growth, ensuring accuracy and precision in results.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of tests, test materials, and equipment used, as well as results obtained.
- Environmental Monitoring: Conduct water testing and environmental monitoring to ensure a safe and controlled laboratory environment.
- Culture Maintenance and Identification: Maintain cultures and identify microorganisms using various techniques and equipment.
- Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Lab Cleaning and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Sample Management: Assist with incoming sample management, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Reporting and Filing: Prepare and submit reports, as required, and maintain accurate filing systems.
- Safety and Compliance: Perform all work in a safe manner, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and reporting potential hazards to management.
- Education: College/Technical School diploma/degree in Microbiology or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year demonstrated microbiology laboratory experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills, good verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work well independently and in a team environment with limited supervision.
The position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about the laboratory and office locations. The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time is necessary. The position also requires the ability to manipulate light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time.
