The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Southlake Regional Health Centre embodies clinical excellence and adheres to the core competencies of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) practice standards. As a valued member of the healthcare team, the RPN provides direct patient care, collaborating with Registered Nurses (RNs) to address complex health issues.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver patient and family centered care within the RPN scope of practice, guided by the three-factor framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Function in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
- Ensure practice is consistent with entry to practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Practice collaboratively with RNs to provide elements of care for patients/clients with complex health issues.
- Contribute to the assessment and documentation of each patient's health status on an ongoing basis.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Assist in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students to the clinical units.
- Act as a role model and champion to integrate safe, best practices into daily activities, fostering the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
- RPN diploma from a recognized school of nursing.
- RPN Certificate of Registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS certification required.
- CC1 required or to be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Initiation and maintenance of intravenous and CVAD experience preferred.
