Job Summary:

As a Primary Care Paramedic with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care and transportation services to the community. This position requires a strong advocate for patients, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Respond to medical and traumatic emergencies, as well as inter-facility transport requests
  • Assess emergency scenes and patients, providing treatment as needed
  • Administer medications, basic life support, and semi-automated defibrillation
  • Lead BLS crews in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes
  • Ensure ambulances and other EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics as Primary Care Paramedic
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six demerits
  • Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (test taken no more than six months prior to the application date)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months experience working as posted designation in EMS frontline operations
  • Current, relevant experience as an AHS employee working in Metro EMS, dedicated Intra-facility transport, and Suburban/Rural EMS
