Job Overview

Reporting directly to the President and CEO of Equans Services, the Senior Vice President of Facility Operations will hold complete accountability for the profit center, ensuring that the expectations of employees, customers, and shareholders are met.

This pivotal leadership position will collaborate with functional support teams and business development to maximize the potential of this expansive market and our robust delivery capabilities.

The individual will also be a member of the Management Committee, playing a crucial role in our collective success. Responsibilities include contributing to, implementing, and monitoring policies, particularly in Health and Safety, Cybersecurity, and Ethics, which are fundamental to our corporate culture.

Additionally, the individual will be a vital member of the Equans management community in North America, helping to shape the business direction.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President of Facility Operations will:

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Safeguard our most valuable asset, our workforce.
  • Be accountable for the health and safety outcomes of their teams.
  • Ensure effective action plans are in place and that teams have the necessary resources.
  • Guarantee compliance with company policies by all supervised employees.

OPERATIONS

  • Lead a professional team dedicated to safety, quality, and customer service, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with support departments to ensure seamless delivery of customer-facing and back-office services.
  • Ensure adherence to established work methods, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the mobilization of new activities, offerings, and client sites, overseeing all aspects of delivery including recruitment, inventory, supplier management, finance, health and safety, environment, contract management, quality, and customer relations.

CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT

  • Develop strategic plans aligned with customer values and needs in collaboration with business development teams.
  • Represent the company and maintain close relationships with customer executives, ensuring business alignment.
  • Ensure contract renewals while safeguarding company and shareholder interests.
  • Understand customer goals and challenges, proposing solutions to enhance customer relationships and offerings.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Formulate strategic growth plans and coordinate execution efforts with business development teams.
  • Align solutions and organization with market opportunities in Canada and the USA.
  • Support account planning and opportunity reviews, establishing operational win strategies with staff.
  • Cultivate relationships with senior customer decision-makers to align their needs with Equans capabilities.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Hold full Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility for the business, including annual budgeting, forecasting, investments, and cash management.
  • Meet business plan and shareholder requirements.
  • Monitor cash management and ensure continuous performance improvement.
  • Manage all risks, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

  • Establish a strategic vision and foster a customer-centric team culture.
  • Plan resources and adapt the organization based on market opportunities.
  • Supervise employees and participate in recruiting key positions.
  • Manage team performance and lead the annual objectives process.
  • Ensure effective communication with the team and promote engagement.
  • Identify training needs and ensure adequate development of personnel for succession.
  • Lead union negotiations directly or through delegation as necessary.
  • Collaborate with resource management teams in the department.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in a multisite, multicultural environment with knowledge of facility management.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a large, geographically dispersed team.
  • Demonstrated success in profitably growing a business.
  • Minimum of ten years in a business profit center role.
  • Understanding of facility management with a technical background preferred.
  • Strategic mindset with a proven ability to develop business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a solid network or the ability to develop one quickly.
  • Capacity to engage teams over the long term.
  • Ability to manage multiple key initiatives simultaneously.
  • Financial expertise in managing a Profit Center.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Canada and the United States.
  • Capability to obtain security clearances associated with various government levels.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is a significant advantage.
