Key Responsibilities:

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Lead of Mechanical Engineering, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Executing mechanical engineering tasks with the authority to stamp designs and specifications in accordance with relevant regulations;
  • Reviewing and approving mechanical engineering work packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy;
  • Verifying the technical soundness of engineering calculations and compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to produce integrated engineering work packages;
  • Contributing to the establishment and implementation of VTEK's policies and standards for the engineering team;
  • Identifying and resolving technical challenges during project reviews;
  • Participating in the design and specification development based on API 653 Inspection Report recommendations for petroleum storage tank repair projects;
  • Conducting verification and validation calculations to ensure plans align with client and regulatory requirements;
  • Developing engineering strategies to mitigate risks and address issues;
  • Applying lessons learned and best practices to promote continuous improvement;
  • Analyzing project proposals and engineering parameters to meet stakeholder needs;
  • Staying updated on the latest engineering design principles and materials;
  • Assisting and mentoring technicians, draftsmen, and junior engineers involved in projects;

Additionally, you will support various duties and engage in strategic and management planning initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering;
  • At least 5 years of experience within the oil and gas sector;
  • Possession of a Canadian P. Eng. designation is highly preferred;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Strong customer relations capabilities;
  • A proven ability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders.
