Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Inpatient Mental Health team at Brightshores Health System. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide patient care within the professional scope of practice and work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care within the professional scope of practice
  • Work collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes
  • Participate in an extensive on-the-job training and orientation program
  • Develop skills in Mental Health nursing through hands-on experience
  • Contribute to a culture of patient safety and demonstrate an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety

Requirements:

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Interest in pursuing a long-term career in Mental Health & Addictions
  • Basic knowledge of standards of care for the mental health and addictions patient population
  • Willingness to obtain – Valid CPI Course, Mental Health nursing certificate, Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and DSM-V
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
