Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety Advisor will play a critical role in supporting our Recycling facility in Moncton, New Brunswick, and other sites in the Atlantic Region. This position will advise and assist in the planning, organizing, monitoring, and review of daily site activities, incidents, Safe Return to Work, and Occupational Disease prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an EHS culture with all managers and employees
- Advise and support managers on EHS initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools
- Conduct workplace inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations
- Investigate work-related accidents and analyze root causes
- Support and audit the effectiveness of preventive measures
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and third-party inspectors
- Respond to employee and customer EHS inquiries
- Plan and deliver EHS training sessions and track completion of mandatory training
- Monitor and report on EHS metrics and key indicators
- Support the rollout of corporate EHS programs and policies
- Council and support the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Requirements
- College diploma in EHS or related field, or equivalent experience
- Five years of experience in an EHS position
- Strong knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong planning, organization, and adaptation skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Technical skills acquired in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Rigor, ability to multitask, and initiative
- Strong MS Office proficiency
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy
- Hold a valid driver's license
