Your Role
We are looking for a proactive, self-driven, and collaborative Project Manager to become an integral part of our Yukon division.
In this position, you will engage closely with clients to offer strategic insights and have the fulfilling opportunity to effect meaningful change through initiatives that improve access to housing, clean water, education, and community infrastructure. Our team is dedicated to enhancing outcomes in the areas where people reside while promoting opportunities for reconciliation, economic engagement, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities
- Enhance the communities you serve, honoring local knowledge and the traditions and cultures of the populations you engage with, including Indigenous communities.
- Exemplify company values and cultural principles.
- Guide, empower, and mentor Assistant Project Managers (APMs) on your projects.
- Establish a personal brand grounded in your expertise and enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with diverse client groups in both public and private sectors, including Indigenous Governing Bodies, community organizations, local authorities, and government entities.
- Engage directly with community leaders and Rights and Title Holders, funding partners, and design and construction professionals to strategize and execute capital building and infrastructure projects.
- Assist Indigenous communities and local authorities in fostering economic growth through strategic land use planning and development.
- Support Indigenous communities and local authorities in emergency preparedness and recovery following climate-related events.
- Be recognized as a valued and trusted team member and a subject matter expert in contracts.
- Oversee project initiation, execution, monitoring, reporting, closure, and commissioning.
- Lead and coordinate project teams towards shared objectives while establishing clear lines of authority and communication.
- Provide project status updates through progress reports, meeting notes, and other communications.
- Facilitate project and site meetings.
- Utilize your communication skills and ability to grasp complex technical terminology.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, responding to new business opportunities with support from the Business Development Team.
- Your clients depend on your knowledge, skills, and expertise to achieve their business objectives.
- Your clients appreciate your capability to advocate for their best interests regarding contractual and technical challenges.
- Your project teams rely on your adeptness in managing change, facilitating communication, and coordinating among multiple partners and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in capital project management.
- A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, or construction management (or equivalent).
- Exemplify company values and cultural principles.
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management methodologies and experience in a PMO setting.
- Familiarity with building codes, contracts, regulations, construction administration, and ethical standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of various design and construction methodologies, project management frameworks, financial management, contract law, and relevant legislation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Strong client and people management skills, with the ability to influence others and effectively resolve a range of commercial, interpersonal, client, and technical issues.
- Proven ability to cultivate harmonious relationships with both internal and external project team members.
- Professional credentials such as PMP, P.Eng., CET, RA, or similar industry-recognized designations.
- Preference for candidates with experience working respectfully in cross-cultural environments, particularly in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities.
- Experience in developing and sustaining long-term client relationships and collaborating with Local Governments and First Nations is considered a strong asset.
