We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Head for Emergency Medicine to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality emergency medical services and ensuring the effective management of our emergency department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the emergency department team, ensuring alignment with Fraser Health's goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement effective plans to improve patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with other department heads and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Quality and Utilization
    • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and reduce wait times.
    • Monitor and analyze departmental performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Local Medical Administration
    • Provide administrative support to the emergency department team, including scheduling, staffing, and budgeting.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective departmental operations.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth communication and coordination of services.
  • Local Physician Resource Planning
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize physician resource utilization, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill mix.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective physician recruitment and retention.
  • Dispute Resolution and Medical Legal Issues
    • Provide guidance and support to department members on conflict resolution and dispute management.
    • Identify and mitigate potential liability issues, providing advice and guidance to department members.
    Requirements
    • Current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
    • Minimum two years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
    • Strong knowledge of emergency medicine and healthcare operations.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix reporting structure.
