Overview:

The Infection Prevention and Control Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents within our community. This position requires a dedicated leader who is committed to enhancing the Team Member Experience while fostering innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the strategic planning, development, organization, execution, and assessment of the infection prevention and control program.
  • Provide expert guidance on infection prevention and control practices across both Ontario and BC regions.
  • Support the Ontario Region clinically in a capacity similar to that of a Regional Wellness Partner when necessary.
  • Proactively prevent the spread of harmful infectious agents, including viruses and bacteria, as well as manage outbreaks and epidemics.
  • Implement effective prevention strategies, including education and consultation for frontline team members.
  • Conduct infection prevention and control surveillance, along with the collection and application of best practices and data analysis.
  • Identify trends and patterns while managing investigations related to infections.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certification of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, and if applicable, certification with the College of Nurses in BC.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant provincial regulations and standards for Ontario and BC.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in geriatrics within a clinical health environment.
  • Completion of Basic Infection Prevention and Control Courses or a commitment to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) or Associate Infection Prevention and Control Certification (A-IPC) is preferred, or a willingness to obtain within a designated timeframe.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • All candidates must successfully pass the required Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants and the Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Infection Control is considered an asset.
  • Training or experience in adult education principles is advantageous.
