Job Summary
ITR Laboratories Canada is seeking a highly skilled Toxicology Technician - Animal Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our animal health team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care.
Responsibilities
- Set up animal rooms for studies, including supplies and equipment, to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Perform general animal husbandry tasks, including animal handling, feeding, and maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
- Administer therapeutic agents through various routes, following established protocols.
- Collect biological samples, such as blood, for analysis.
- Participate in training programs to develop advanced animal-related competencies.
- Collect biometric data on safety pharmacology studies.
- Record and report changes in animal health through observed clinical signs.
- Use, maintain, and calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Keep meticulous daily records and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
- Report any unforeseen issues to the Team Leader and Veterinarian Services immediately.
Requirements
- College diploma in Animal Health Technology or a related field, such as Science, Biology, Biotechnology, Veterinary, or Nursing.
- Experience handling animals is a definite asset.
- Experience in a laboratory or scientific environment is a plus.
- Ability to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and flexible timelines, including evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability to push, pull, and carry weights up to 20kg (44 lbs).
- Good attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and high sense of responsibility.
- Ability to read and write in English, bilingualism an asset.
