About the Role

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Associate to join our Palliative Medicine team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development of our clinical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient rounds, assessments, and care planning under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, respond to changing patient conditions, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, other care team members, and patients and families to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects, professional development activities, and educational sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum two years of postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist.
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
  • English language proficiency and eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Valid Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to live and work in British Columbia.
Competencies
  • Demonstrated leadership practices, including clear, caring, and courageous leadership.
  • Professional/Technical Capabilities: diagnosing and managing common medical problems, including pain, nausea, shortness of breath, constipation, and complex family dynamics and psychosocial concerns.
  • Ability to recognize medical instability, address initial priorities of patient management, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
