Key Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) division integrates esteemed wholesale coverage with exceptional product, financing, and advisory capabilities within a unified team, allowing us to optimally serve our clientele. Within the Credit Portfolio Management Group ("CPM"), the Credit Risk Analyst will operate under the guidance of a Director - Senior Credit Analyst, overseeing a portfolio that includes significant US corporations and subsidiaries of international entities across various sectors. The Credit Risk Analyst will be tasked with conducting thorough credit evaluations, scrutinizing legal documents, and performing continuous portfolio oversight under the mentorship of the Senior Credit Analyst.
Daily Activities Include:
- Crafting detailed credit applications and annual assessments of corporate clients to evaluate their creditworthiness, suggesting suitable credit limits, terms, and conditions. This encompasses financial statement analysis (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), an examination of the client's strategic direction, business risks, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
- Developing financial forecasts and assessing debt repayment capabilities while ensuring adherence to SGS Credit Policies.
- Recommending and revising Obligor Risk Ratings.
- Monitoring adherence to covenants.
- Analyzing all pertinent legal documentation (such as credit agreements, guarantees, ISDA, CSA) and proposing necessary amendments to align with SGS policies.
- Collaborating with other CPM teams across various regions, business lines, bankers, legal & compliance, operations, and risk management departments.
Required Profile
Skills and Qualifications:
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional financial analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in evaluating credit terms and conditions, including financial covenants, security, and collateral.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial and investment banking products.
- Capability to work collaboratively in a team, including engaging with teams located in different regions.
- Strong writing skills, particularly in summarizing and assessing financial transactions (credit requests, covenant waivers, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of accounting, legal, and regulatory issues relevant to the sectors involved.
- Ability to investigate, research, and synthesize data to draw appropriate conclusions regarding observed results.
- Competence in analyzing and evaluating counterparty risk and financial health using both quantitative and qualitative data.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles.
- Experience in preparing financial projections under varying scenarios.
- Proficiency in using Word for written analysis and Excel for spreadsheet management.
- Familiarity with capital markets, traded products, and committed financing facilities.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
- 8-10 years of experience as a credit analyst in a corporate and investment banking environment or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential as this role requires regular collaboration with colleagues and partners in various locations.
