Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Paediatrics team at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care using the nursing process and participate as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice and maintain nursing records.
  • Function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Cross-train to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is required.
Requirements
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or commitment to be certified/recertified within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience with pediatric medical/surgical care.
  • Proven pediatric skills, including IV initiation and capillary blood collection, proficiency with advanced oxygen delivery systems and NG/G-tubes.
  • Knowledge of pediatric pathophysiology, especially related to medically complex children and developmental needs of children aged newborn-18 years old.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N) degree.
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgment, good observation, and patient assessment skills, tact, and empathy.
  • Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids.
  • Able to assume a leadership/supervisory role.

  • A satisfactory performance record.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
Conditions of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
