About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Imaging Specialist to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our forensic services team, you will be responsible for providing expert photographic documentation and evidence processing services to support the investigation of deaths and other forensic cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality photographic documentation of forensic scenes, autopsies, and evidence using advanced digital imaging techniques.
  • Operate and maintain a range of digital imaging equipment, including cameras, printers, and software.
  • Manage and enhance electronic images using computer software, including Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Develop and implement procedures for the collection, preservation, and analysis of forensic evidence.
  • Collaborate with other forensic specialists to ensure the integrity and accuracy of evidence.
  • Provide expert testimony in court as required.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, plus considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, equipment, and materials of modern forensic imaging.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in photography, with technical training in forensic imaging and extensive experience with Adobe photo editing software.
  • Video production, filming, and editing skills are considered a strong asset.
  • International Association for Identification, Forensic Photography Certification is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead training programs and manage personnel competency.
