Job Summary
The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a Relief Support Assistant to provide support to students with special needs in educational settings. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Principal, Program Support Teacher, and/or Classroom Teachers to implement specialized and modified learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to provide a positive learning environment for students with special needs.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to provide academic assistance in core areas such as reading and math.
- Ensure students with special needs have opportunities to learn effective listening and communication skills and good work habits.
- Assist with maintaining order in the classroom and supporting Classroom Teachers in managing student behavior.
- Provide support to other students in the classroom who may require additional attention.
Requirements
- Grade 12 combined with related training in working with special needs students and experience in an educational environment.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other educational staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary range from $34.20 per hour to $40.85 per hour.
- Pro-rated annual Northern Allowance.
