Job Summary:
First Student Canada-Transco is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transportation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe and respectful environment on the bus.
- Communicate with drivers and school personnel to address any issues or concerns.
- Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is safe and ready for operation.
- Help students load and unload the bus, and assist with any special needs requirements.
- Participate in safety and training meetings to stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
- Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including the use of emergency doors.
- Perform other duties as required to support the safe and efficient operation of the bus.
Requirements:
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, drivers, and school personnel.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
- Early morning availability and ability to work a varied schedule.
- Judgement and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations.
- Ability to manage high levels of stress and pressure in a fast-paced environment.
