Job Title: Bus Monitor and Aide

About the Role:
First Student, the largest school transportation provider in North America, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Bus Monitor and Aide. With over a century of experience, we pride ourselves on providing safe and reliable transportation to over five million students daily.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist drivers in the safe operation of routes, ensuring the well-being of passengers
  • Communicate with school personnel, students, and parents to address any concerns or issues
  • Participate in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Help students load and unload from the bus, promoting a safe and efficient process
  • Attend safety and training meetings to stay up-to-date on the latest procedures and protocols
  • Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including the use of emergency doors
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for passengers
  • Assist drivers when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Early morning availability
  • Judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage high degrees of stress
