About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Sawmill Machine Operator to join our team at Swiftwood Forest Products. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our sawmill equipment to produce high-quality lumber products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Sawmill Equipment: Safely operate and maintain our sawmill equipment, including automated lumbermill equipment, to ensure efficient and accurate production.
  • Examine and Process Lumber: Examine logs and rough lumber to determine the best lumber cuts, and saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes.
  • Monitor and Control Production: Monitor logs and lumber movement to ensure cuts are made according to specifications, and start conveyor systems to move logs and lumber to and from saws.
  • Perform Routine Maintenance: Set up and adjust saw equipment, replace blades or bands, and clean and lubricate sawmill equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a sawmill or related industry
  • Skills: Manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
