Position Overview
We are currently in search of a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive coverage across various departments within the hospital. The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, and an integral part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, dedicated to ensuring quality patient care and effective patient flow. This role involves providing exemplary care to a diverse population of acute medical patients in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering Respiratory Therapy services in the birthing unit, critical care areas, emergency department, inpatient wards, and pulmonary function laboratory.
- Acting as a member of the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT), responsible for responding to various emergency codes within the facility.
- Overseeing the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of respiratory therapy equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in patient education for asthma and COPD is preferred.
- Familiarity with adult education principles is advantageous.
- Experience with pediatric and neonatal patients is preferred.
- Active participation in the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario's Quality Assurance Program.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem assessment and resolution abilities.
- Commitment to outstanding customer service and collaborative teamwork.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
- Exemplifying behaviors that align with the values of Southlake Regional Health Centre.
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the College of Respiratory Therapists in the General Class.
- Practice in accordance with the standards and guidelines established by the College.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
