Role Overview
As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction of the company. Your responsibilities will include making high-level technology decisions, overseeing the technology budget, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision. Your extensive experience in the tech industry will be essential in developing and managing processes that promote quality development and deliver exceptional products to our users.
- Develop a comprehensive vision for technology utilization within the organization.
- Ensure that technological resources align with both immediate and long-term business objectives.
- Establish research and development goals, creating timelines for the rollout of all technological services.
- Collaborate with teams to set clear, measurable objectives and drive them to successful completion.
- Make informed executive decisions regarding the company's technological needs.
- Maintain a user-centric perspective while facilitating the delivery of IT projects.
- Oversee technology budgets and project timelines.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Identify opportunities for improvement within engineering teams and collaborate with other departments to implement enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (SOC2) in all technology practices.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability within the team, fostering strong customer empathy.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their professional growth through coaching and training.
- Manage recruitment, retention, and career development initiatives for your team.
- Over 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
- A proven leader with a track record of building and nurturing high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, scaling environment.
- A passion for creating outstanding software solutions for customers.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong business insight, linking engineering initiatives to organizational goals.
- Comprehensive understanding of full-stack systems, with experience in MySQL, PHP, Redis, and React.
- Solid knowledge of database technologies, particularly MySQL/MariaDB.
- Experience in a private equity-backed company or familiarity with mobile tracking and reimbursement technologies is a plus.
