Starting your career as an equipment Technician in the Small Ag/Skid Steer/Turf division will provide you with the opportunity to diagnose, repair, and maintain small tractors, powered equipment, and tow-behind machinery, while becoming proficient with the tools and systems utilized in our service environment.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conducting inspections, diagnosing issues, and repairing equipment with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and quality workmanship.
  • Utilizing specialized tools and innovative technology to effectively diagnose and execute complex repairs.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules and standards for equipment and associated components.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest Turf and John Deere agricultural products.
  • Employing diagnostic tools and basic computer skills as needed.
  • Engaging in training opportunities through John Deere University and dealer-led programs to enhance skills and technical knowledge.

Qualifications:

You may be an ideal candidate for this role if you:

  • Possess mechanical aptitude and have experience with basic maintenance and repairs on small engine equipment.
  • Exhibit a strong desire to learn and a commitment to hard work.
  • Have received formal training in mechanics or have relevant farming experience.
  • Are knowledgeable about engines, hydraulics, powertrains, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Bring familiarity with John Deere and competitive products as an advantage.
  • Hold a Journeyperson Agricultural Technician certification (or equivalent, such as Heavy Equipment or Automotive) as a significant asset.
