Job Overview

The Catering Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing all facets of catering services to guarantee outstanding service and remarkable client experiences. This position encompasses the planning, organization, and execution of catering events, along with staff management and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Engage with clients to ascertain their catering requirements and preferences.
    • Formulate and present catering proposals, inclusive of menu selections and pricing structures.
    • Oversee event logistics, which includes venue arrangements, equipment procurement, and staffing needs.
  2. Menu Development and Execution:
    • Collaborate with culinary teams to design and refresh catering menus.
    • Ensure the punctual preparation and delivery of food and beverages.
    • Uphold exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and safety protocols.
  3. Staff Management:
    • Recruit, train, and manage catering personnel, including servers, chefs, and event coordinators.
    • Establish staff schedules and delegate responsibilities for each event.
    • Evaluate staff performance and provide continuous training and support.
  4. Client Relations:
    • Foster and maintain robust relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and encouraging repeat business.
    • Address client inquiries, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and promptness.
  5. Financial Management:
    • Develop and oversee the catering budget, ensuring effective cost management and profitability.
    • Monitor and report on financial metrics, including sales, expenditures, and profits.
    • Negotiate agreements with suppliers and vendors.
  6. Marketing and Sales:
    • Craft and execute marketing strategies to elevate catering services.
    • Identify and pursue new business prospects and partnerships.
    • Participate in networking events and industry gatherings to enhance the company's visibility.
  7. Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations.
    • Implement and supervise food safety and sanitation standards.
    • Conduct regular evaluations of catering facilities and equipment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in the food service sector, or a comparable mix of education, training, and experience.
  • ServeSafe and/or FoodSafe certification with comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food preparation and service.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English.
  • The ability to manage employee, customer, and client concerns with discretion while adhering to confidentiality policies.
  • Strong organizational skills with a commitment to quality and efficiency in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Leadership capabilities to drive projects, anticipate business needs, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant equipment safely.
  • Competence in utilizing computers and associated software, including POS systems.
  • The physical ability to lift and reach items weighing between 0-10 pounds from floor to shoulder height.
  • A willingness to engage in frequent standing and walking.
