Job Summary

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing a variety of food items for customers to food safety standards and recipe specifications while ensuring high-quality products. This role will support the delivery of food services, including on-campus catering activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare short-order items and perform preparation work for daily menu items, specials, and catering activities as planned by the Supervisor.
  2. Support the Cook in preparation of catering and grab-and-go items, such as baked goods, sandwiches, and wraps, based on levels set by the Supervisor.
  3. Ensure the food preparation area, kitchen, and appliances are organized, cleaned, and sanitized.
  4. Assist with receiving, validating, and putting away deliveries of food items and supplies.
  5. Report any damage, quantity, or quality issues with shipments to the Supervisor.
  6. Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications, and portion control guidelines while maintaining consistency and ensuring high-quality products.
  7. Maintain inventory levels and records of food, equipment, and supplies, and inform the Supervisor of any needs.
  8. Inform the Supervisor when maintenance or repair is needed on any equipment.
  9. Respond professionally to customer inquiries and concerns, as required.
Requirements
  1. High school completion or equivalent.
  2. Food Safe Level 1 certificate required.
  3. 2 years or more experience as a prep or line cook.
Working Conditions

The Culinary Specialist will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and working independently with minimal supervision.
