The Registered Nurse, under the supervision of the site Manager, plays a crucial role in enhancing health outcomes through comprehensive patient care. This position entails the assessment, management, and treatment of various health conditions utilizing supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative, and rehabilitative approaches to ensure patients achieve or maintain their highest level of functioning.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility for registration
  • Proficiency in interpreting basic arrhythmias
  • Flexibility to work on Medical/Surgical Units as necessary
  • Current certification in or willingness to obtain: ACLS, PALS, BCLS, CTAS, and Delegated medical acts
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Competence in assessment and patient interviewing
  • Willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when needed
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate unit and patient needs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives
  • Availability to work all shifts as required
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Engagement in staff meetings and unit-specific projects
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues
  • Consistent satisfactory attendance and performance records
  • Adherence to Brightshores 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others), ensuring a safe workplace free from violence and harassment
  • Advocacy for a culture of patient safety, demonstrating an understanding of how departmental services and responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Emergency Nursing Certificate
  • Completion of a Physical Assessment Course
  • TNCC or equivalent certification
  • Recent experience in Medical/Surgical, PACU, Day Surgery, or Critical Care settings
  • Two years of recent experience in Emergency Nursing
  • NRP certification
