Waste Management Operator

Fero Waste and Recycling Inc, a division of The Municipal Group of Companies, is a leading provider of solid waste management services in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Side Load Operator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a Side Load tandem truck in a safe and efficient manner on assigned routes to meet contractual requirements;
  • Ensure assigned routes are completed in a timely and safe manner;
  • Perform daily pre-and post-trip inspections of trucks assigned;
  • Communicate with Dispatchers to determine daily schedules and receive delivery instructions;
  • Load and unload heavy materials, tools, and equipment under varying traffic and road conditions;
  • Maintain radio contact with supervisors to receive updates and instructions;
  • Report any driving infractions and/or suspensions;
  • Perform end-of-day driver check-ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion;
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver's license with a clean driver abstract;
  • Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement in good standing;
  • Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisors;
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and comply with procedures;
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer focus;
  • Good coordination and lifting ability, with the capacity to lift 20-75 pounds on a regular basis;
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks;
  • Previous waste and recycling experience is preferred, with residential curbside collection experience being an asset;
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.
