Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our respiratory therapy team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our respiratory therapy program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with in-service education and providing input into program development.
  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as related to respiratory therapy, such as assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and providing support for initiating/maintaining mechanical ventilation support of adults, children, and infants.
  • Provide airway management, patient evaluation, and daily care of patients as prescribed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including reports, records, and workload statistics, according to established departmental standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic/diagnostic strategies, and program-related issues.
  • Monitor and perform required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment, and report supply needs as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, such as the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards, development of assessment forms and patient materials, and program descriptions as required.
  • Provide in-service education as required.
  • Participate in meetings and departmental committees, and contribute to problem identification and resolution.
  • Participate in Respiratory Therapy student education and various in-services for staff and the community as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C.
  • Possession of and maintained Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
