About the Role

The Physiotherapist II role is a critical provincial position within the patient services branch of the Allied Health Professions department. This position is a virtual provincial role, allowing for flexibility in location within Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services.
  • Supervise students and team members as assigned.
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a community and outpatient/specialized setting.
  • Experience working on a provincial team in a virtual environment.
  • Experience with adult learning theory and practice.
