Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at Kiewit Nuclear Canada. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in all aspects of our nuclear-related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Quality Plans: Create and implement contract-specific Project Quality Plans (PQPs) to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Quality Staff Management: Ensure that quality staff is adequately assigned, trained, and qualified to execute the PQP, and that all project staff has access to the appropriate quality resources.
  • Nuclear Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee a Nuclear Quality Assurance Program in a construction environment, including issues management, nonconformance reporting, subcontractor oversight, internal assessments/audits, causal analysis, commercial grade dedication, inspections, procurement oversight, and commissioning and turnover.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior QA/QC personnel to ensure the correct behaviors are developed and reinforced.
  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with the Client team while understanding their requirements and expectations, and continuing to reinforce a nuclear safety culture.
  • Quality Standards and Regulatory Compliance: Interpret quality standards and regulatory requirements and define implementation strategies.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with district quality management to ensure consistent implementation across the company, and coordinate and perform causal analysis investigations on project-related issues.
  • Quality Audits and Assessments: Coordinate and perform QA audits and assessments on the QMS, PQP, subcontractor quality plans, and other processes/procedures, and document findings and assign/implement effective Corrective Actions.
  • Risk Management: Analyze findings to identify trends that could be potential risks to the project, and work with the project management team to develop and implement mitigation strategies to remove or reduce those risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote Continuous Improvement and the timely reporting of all conditions that affect the project.
  • Operation Planning: Be actively engaged in operation planning sessions, providing input from a Quality standpoint and ensuring that Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are developed for all operations.
  • Quality Documentation: Ensure that all Quality documentation required for project turnover is completed, compliant with contractual requirements, and stored in an organized manner.
  • Communication and Presentation: Routinely speak and/or present at meetings to promote quality goals/objectives and to discuss issues.
  • Performance Reviews: Perform routine performance reviews with all project Quality staff.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality assurance role in a nuclear-related industry.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Other Requirements: Regular, reliable attendance, work productively and meet deadlines timely, communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment, perform work safely and effectively, and understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
