Job Summary

The Saw Department Supervisor will be responsible for scheduling production through saws to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of saws for sectioning material required at forging, testing, machining, etc.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule production through saws to ensure on-time delivery and effective use of saws
  • Schedule production through plate saws to ensure on-time delivery
  • Schedule and prioritize activities for Raw Material and Saws material handlers, including unloading of trucks, raw material inspection, and transfer of raw material
  • Schedule raw material grinding operations based on priorities provided by the Materials group
  • Maximize up time on all related equipment
  • Determine cause and corrective actions regarding scrap and rework
  • Manage processing of relevant scrap bins
  • Interview and hire new employees, conduct performance appraisals, and direct training and development of staff
  • Effectively train employees to understand the impact on stages after sectioning product
  • Manage cost control of the department
  • Ensure quality of processing within the department
  • Manage the condition of saws and related equipment through operators and maintenance department
  • Work with maintenance staff to suggest areas of improvement for greater throughput

Requirements

  • High school diploma required, plus 5 years' experience in a similar work environment
  • Demonstrated strong organization, planning, coordination, and priority setting skills
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills and ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision
