Control Systems Engineer

Koch Fertilizer, LLC is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer.
This role provides an opportunity to engage with a diverse range of Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems while emphasizing engineering principles and reliability assessments. The ideal candidate will enhance the safe, dependable, and efficient functioning of process control systems at Koch Fertilizer. Responsibilities include managing daily DCS/SIS tasks and supporting capital initiatives. This position also offers avenues for professional development through training in engineering, leadership, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the KFC Process Control Vision within a collaborative team setting.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Advanced Process Control (APC) and Procedural Automation/State Based Controls.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DeltaV DCS and SIS, including PID Loop tuning.
- Engage with the broader KAES and Koch Industries community to integrate best practices at the Brandon site.
- Support the execution of I&C project scopes and reliability enhancement initiatives, ensuring timely expertise.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality systems, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Provide prompt assistance to operations and maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving complex issues.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Plant Engineering to identify optimal solutions for business needs.
- Contribute to the planning and scheduling of plant outages and turnarounds.
- Evaluate the performance of process control and safety systems via DCS/SIS interfaces.
- Identify opportunities for control improvements that align with business objectives.
- Verify that safety controls function as designed and participate in functional safety assessments.
- Demonstrate proficiency with P&IDs, control narratives, and related documentation to enhance performance.
- Develop strategies for implementing control performance enhancements.
- Facilitate the integration of third-party control systems with DeltaV DCS.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and a commitment to fostering a safety-oriented culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with process control systems, including DCS/SIS (preferably DeltaV), PLCs, and functional safety engineering.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting process control systems.
- Familiarity with computer-aided design tools and software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P. Eng) registration in the Province of Manitoba.
