Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at OPEN BOOK DAYCARE CENTRES INC. as a Child Development Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Design and implement child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs of children, focusing on their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to child development.
  • Staff Supervision and Training
    • Supervise and train staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care and support to children.
    • Provide guidance and support to staff to help them develop their skills and knowledge in child development and education.
  • Child Development and Support
    • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
    • Lead activities that encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
    • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, or supervisors to share observations and progress reports on children.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers working with children.
  • Environment and Safety
    • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
    • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • College or CEGEP diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
    • At least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a child-care setting.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Punctuality and dependability.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Flexibility and ability to multitask.
    • Reliability and team player attitude.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule
    • 30 hours per week.
