Position Objective:

In collaboration with the Project Manager, serve as the Technical Lead on various initiatives, ensuring the technical proficiency and production standards of the projects. Deliver outstanding customer service and coordination support with both internal and external project partners (consultants, contractors, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work alongside the Team Lead, Project Manager, Branch Manager, and Engineering Manager to deliver completed projects to our clients promptly.
  2. Maintain effective communication with the Project Manager, including gathering and coordinating essential information.
  3. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, including reviewing reports and ensuring adherence to technical standards.
  4. Share expertise across different offices.
  5. May serve as a point of contact for clients.
  6. Support, uphold, and enhance quality control measures.
  7. Calculate cost estimates, change orders, and earned value assessments.
  8. Develop engineering cost proposals.
  9. Identify project risks during the proposal phase, ensuring compliance with client and internal risk management requirements.
  10. Accurately apply relevant codes and regulations.
  11. Compose reports that require minimal editing.
  12. Address and resolve interdisciplinary design conflicts.
  13. Manage, review, and contribute to proposals.
  14. Review and annotate complex drawings.
  15. Draft and present technical papers.
  16. Function as a specialist consultant by creating unique designs and concepts while gaining a comprehensive understanding of other on-site disciplines.
  17. Independently manage routine projects and oversee work plans and procedures.
  18. Coordinate with all service lines, extracting and relaying pertinent information for complex projects.
  19. Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and/or recommendations for various systems, including:
    1. Control systems
    2. Grounding
    3. Hazardous area classification
    4. Heat tracing systems
    5. High and medium low voltage power systems
    6. Lighting systems
    7. Low tension building systems engineering
    8. Low voltage power
    9. Life safety systems
    10. Power systems analysis
    11. Commissioning of electrical systems
    12. Energy analysis and management
  20. Modify established standards, devise innovative approaches, apply existing criteria in new contexts, and draw conclusions for comparative situations.
  21. Stamp own project designs and reports, as well as those of engineers in training for whom peer review is provided as appropriate.

  23. Adhere to company policies and guidelines, as well as safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.
  24. Possess the ability to apply for a Federal security clearance to work on institutional projects as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • P.Eng. Status with the appropriate provincial association
  • A minimum of 4 – 6 years of relevant experience
