We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our Finance team in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. This is a full-time, permanent role with a hybrid work arrangement.

The Finance Manager will oversee the comprehensive financial operations of Ottobock HealthCare Canada. Responsibilities include divisional financial reporting, budgeting, cost management, taxation, auditing, financial modeling, trend analysis, and the preparation of financial statements. This role will also involve developing and implementing policies and procedures related to business processes and internal controls, as well as leading the local accounting team. The Finance Manager will identify opportunities for cost reduction, enhance resource utilization, and provide valuable insights and recommendations. Compliance with relevant accounting principles is essential, along with the provision of accurate reporting, analysis, and feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee accounting operations, including the review of journal entries, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable. Collaborate with Operations to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control existing processes. Manage research and development programs for CCRA and accounting standards. Assist in analyzing and reviewing the organization's financial performance by collecting, analyzing, reporting, and interpreting operational, financial, and statistical data. Coordinate month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting processes. Collaborate with department leads to forecast future quarterly financials as needed. Prepare adjusting and closing entries, and submit monthly and ad hoc reports. Maintain standardized controls and reporting that comply with Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant standards. Lead the annual budgeting process for the Canadian entity in close collaboration with department heads. Assist in establishing goals, objectives, and metrics that align with the overall company strategy. Coordinate year-end tax and audit activities as assigned. Develop and maintain standard manufacturing costs, conduct variance analysis, analyze trends, and provide recommendations to leadership. Supervise assigned accounting staff, including involvement in recruitment, interviewing, and candidate selection. Provide constructive feedback and administer disciplinary actions when necessary. Support relevant teams in resolving technical questions and issues. Proactively identify potential challenges and apply problem-solving and decision-making skills to achieve acceptable resolutions. Actively participate as a member of the Canadian Leadership Team.

Qualifications

A university degree in Business or Accounting, with an advanced degree or professional designation (such as CA, CPA, CMA, CMT) or a Master's degree preferred. Extensive experience and knowledge of all facets of Corporate Accounting and Financial Management. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; strong understanding of Cost Accounting; significant experience in Corporate Accounting; familiarity with financial policies and practices, Canadian GAAP, and IFRS is advantageous. Comprehensive knowledge of all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulations regarding financial records, pensions, profit sharing, and similar matters is essential. Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, strategic planning, and forecasting. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with IT systems, including SAP or other ERP systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interface with all organizational levels. Strong project management and supervisory skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential.
