Facility Overview: The Elder Catherine Charles Long-term Care Home is committed to delivering exceptional care to its residents by offering personalized assistance and respite services tailored to individual needs. This facility operates around the clock, providing varying levels of care to residents based on their requirements. Our primary objective is to ensure direct care and monitor the health status of our residents.
Position Details: The role involves working 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Personal Care Workers are responsible for supporting and overseeing individuals with diverse physical abilities. They collaborate as a team to plan, organize, and supervise daily activities, as well as prepare and serve meals according to established plans and administer prescribed medications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and supervise elderly individuals in their daily activities.
- Collaborate with the team to plan, organize, and oversee recreational and other services.
- Prepare and serve meals as per the established menu.
- Continuously assess the needs of residents.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation within the Long-term Care Home.
- Work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule (overtime may be necessary).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certification as a Continuing Care Aide, Personal Care Worker, or Home Health Aide is required.
- Certification in First Aid & CPR and Safe Food Handling is required or must be obtained.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in home care or childcare is advantageous.
- Experience working with First Nations Communities is beneficial.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Cree is a definite asset.
