LifeLabs is currently seeking a Laboratory Patient Care Technician to become part of our dedicated team.

In the role of Laboratory Patient Care Technician, you will oversee the specimen collection process, starting from welcoming patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This position is vital in patient care and our operations, allowing you to witness the positive impact you have on patients' lives.

This is a Part-Time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Selected candidates will undergo Full-Time training for an initial period of 6-8 weeks.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  1. Welcoming patients, gathering necessary information, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring adherence to required test protocols prior to specimen collection.
  2. Conducting phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
  3. Executing special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing associated documentation.
  4. Maintaining client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
  5. Entering essential patient demographics, requisition details, and other information related to processing test results into the system.
  6. Preparing specimens for transportation and testing.

The ideal candidate for this position will prioritize exceptional customer/patient service and relate well to patients and clients, even in challenging situations. Key attributes include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem-solving abilities. Additional requirements include:

  1. Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  2. Experience in phlebotomy.
  3. Strong communication skills.
  4. Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  5. Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Compensation:

The compensation range has been established, but the final salary will be determined based on experience, educational background, external market conditions, and internal equity.
