Logistics Package Handler - FedEx Express Corporation

As a Logistics Package Handler, you will be tasked with the physical loading, unloading, and sorting of packages in a secure and efficient manner. Responsibilities may include rotating through various roles such as loader, unloader, palletizer, scanner, weigher, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employ the 'hand-surface method' for all package handling tasks.
  • Load and unload packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor systems, and loading equipment.
  • Continuously lift, carry, push, and pull packages for approximately 3 to 5 hours, with the flexibility to work multiple shifts each day.
  • Identify the correct conveyor system by scanning packages, interpreting labels and charts, verifying numbers, and sorting packages accordingly.
  • Execute other assigned duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities for Package Handler Trainer:

  • Instruct new Package Handlers on effective unloading, loading, palletizing, and handling techniques.
  • Provide guidance to fellow Package Handlers needing further training on various handling methods as directed by management.
  • Offer constructive feedback on package handling practices when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities for Air Package Handler:

  • Scan each package in the air transport consolidation area; inspect materials designated as hazardous.
  • Load packages into unit load devices as required.
  • Complete notifications for air-restricted packages in the system.
  • Regularly engage in loading/unloading, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages.

Minimum Education

No formal education is required.

Minimum Experience

No prior experience is necessary.

Preferred qualifications for specialized roles include:

  • Package Handler Trainer: Six months of experience as a Package Handler at FedEx Express Corporation.
  • Package Handler - Air: Six months of experience as a Package Handler at FedEx Express Corporation.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions regarding work tasks and safety protocols.
  • Capacity to recognize numbers and information for accurate package sorting.
  • Proficiency in using basic tools and equipment such as roller conveyors, dock carts, handheld scanners, and unloading devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work will be conducted in varying temperature conditions.
  • Environment may be very noisy.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying weights between 5 and 50 pounds.
  • No travel is required for this position.

Compensation: $18.80/hour
