Logistics Package Handler - FedEx Express Corporation

As a Logistics Package Handler, your primary responsibility will be to efficiently load, unload, and manually sort packages while ensuring safety protocols are adhered to. You may be assigned to various roles such as loader, unloader, palletizer, scanner, weigher, and quality assurance, among others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employ the 'hand-surface method' for all package management tasks.
  • Load and unload packages from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor systems, and loading equipment.
  • Continuously lift, carry, push, and pull packages for approximately 3 to 5 hours, with the capacity to work multiple shifts as required.
  • Identify the correct conveyor system by scanning packages, interpreting labels and charts, verifying numbers, and sorting packages accurately.
  • Execute additional assigned duties as needed.

Additional Responsibilities for Package Handler Trainer:

  • Instruct new Package Handlers on effective unloading, loading, palletizing, and handling techniques.
  • Provide training to fellow Package Handlers requiring further guidance on package handling methods.
  • Offer constructive feedback on package handling practices when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities for Air Package Handler:

  • Scan each package within the air transport consolidation area; assess hazardous materials or ORM-D designations.
  • Load packages into unit load devices as required.
  • Complete notifications for air-restricted packages in the system.
  • Regularly engage in loading/unloading, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages.

Minimum Education Requirements

No formal education is necessary.

Minimum Experience Requirements

No prior experience is required.

Preferred qualifications for specialized roles include:

  • Package Handler Trainer: Six months of experience as a Package Handler at FedEx Express Corporation.
  • Package Handler - Air: Six months of experience as a Package Handler at FedEx Express Corporation.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions and safety protocols.
  • Capability to accurately sort packages based on numerical and informational cues.
  • Proficiency in using basic tools and equipment such as roller conveyors, dock carts, handheld scanners, and unloading devices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work will be conducted in varying temperature conditions.
  • Environment may be quite noisy.
  • Must be able to lift and carry weights ranging from 5 to 50 pounds.
  • No travel is anticipated.

Compensation: $18.80/hour
