Job Summary
The Head of Wastewater Operations will lead the operational wastewater teams across the Auckland region, responsible for wastewater treatment, discharge, biosolids management, collection, and transmission. This role requires a strong leader to manage and enable the operations of wastewater collection and transmission systems, execute customer care strategies, and oversee a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the operations of wastewater collection and transmission systems.
- Direct and communicate regular reviews and monitoring, planning, and coordination of wastewater systems to ensure business processes are followed.
- Execute the customer care strategy to minimize and effectively manage customer and environmental impacts.
- Oversee and manage a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services against objectives and standards.
- Oversee the teams that ensure transmission and wastewater network assets are effectively managed against KPIs.
- Operational management of wastewater treatment plants and facilities to manage wastewater in accordance with regulations, policies, and requirements.
- Drive operational improvements and efficiency programs.
- Provide leadership and support to enable the team to participate in civil defense training, emergency response initiatives, and business continuity plan activities.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a tertiary degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
- Chartered Engineer or an equivalent independent certification.
- Extensive experience in Water or Wastewater operations.
- Significant leadership experience leading a dispersed, multidiscipline team including strategic planning in a large, complex environment.
- Knowledge and demonstrated practice in finance and budget management.
- Knowledge of HSE procedures and regulations in a high-risk environment.
