This position typically involves overseeing and guiding a team, ensuring exceptional project delivery and service. To excel as an Associate, one must contribute significantly in at least two core business areas.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide daily guidance to teams, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where knowledge sharing and innovative solutions are encouraged.
  • Develop team members through mentorship, ongoing feedback, and conducting annual performance reviews to cultivate future leaders.
  • Engage in corporate leadership by contributing to the strategic direction of structural engineering services and participating in internal committees.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Contribute creative and technical insights to proposal development, collaborating closely with the marketing team to showcase Entuitive's strengths.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by addressing issues promptly and ensuring service quality exceeds expectations.
  • Participate in business acquisition efforts as a core responsibility of the Associate role.

Technical Expertise

  • Offer technical guidance to engineering teams, ensuring high-quality engineering through thorough reviews and adherence to quality assurance protocols.
  • Implement quality control measures and promote a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to excellence.
  • Explore and advocate for advanced techniques and technologies within project teams and across the firm.
  • Deliver both preliminary and detailed designs as necessary, overseeing specifications and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Sign and seal engineering drawings as required, upholding professional integrity and high-quality standards.

Project Oversight

  • Manage project execution effectively, including budget oversight and ensuring that scheduling and resource plans align with project deliverables.
  • Handle client communications, including fee letters and status updates, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Act as a project engineer or principal on multiple projects, depending on their size and complexity.

Qualifications

Essential Skills for Success

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in civil engineering (structural focus) or architecture, with a P.Eng. license in Alberta; licenses in other regions are a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in delivering complex structural engineering projects, particularly in industrial or municipal sectors.
  • Strong understanding of local market dynamics, emerging trends, and opportunities.
  • Excellent business acumen, negotiation skills, and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships and develop professional networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes and materials for new builds and restoration projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to navigate complex situations involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management capabilities, adept at managing scope, schedule, and budget within large teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Client service excellence and experience managing multiple teams concurrently.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment with competing demands.
  • Knowledge of embodied carbon considerations is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
  • Willingness to travel for work is a plus.
