Position Overview:
The Cenovus SAP Finance Solutions Team is seeking a highly skilled Lead Financial Systems Analyst to enhance and streamline our Financial Closing processes within ECC6 and S/4 HANA. This role demands exceptional analytical capabilities and adeptness in resolving complex business challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute Financial Closing tasks in SAP ECC6 and S/4 HANA Central Finance systems: Implement comprehensive, documented procedures to manage critical month-end closing activities efficiently. Strive for continuous enhancement of the Month-End-Closing timeline, processes, and documentation to achieve exemplary reporting standards. Mentor and guide Business Analysts in executing month-end closing functions and related responsibilities. Conduct reconciliations across SAP ECC6, S/4 HANA, Group Reporting, and SAP BW. Identify and troubleshoot issues, applying improvements to daily and monthly SAP operations. Optimize Joint Venture month-end processes while ensuring adherence to security and internal control protocols. Maintain and develop assessment, distribution, and allocation cycles.
- Collaborate closely with the SAP Finance Business Solutions Master Data Team to optimize and troubleshoot Master Data issues and data replication between ECC6 and S/4 HANA.
- Articulate Finance Master Data requirements across various areas including cost centers, cost elements, joint venture master data, general ledger accounts, hierarchies, legal entities, and profit centers in multiple SAP environments. Conduct business risk assessments related to Finance Master Data changes, evaluating their potential impacts on key business processes and stakeholders. Provide subject matter expertise in Finance Master Data to support business process changes and SAP system transformations.
- Manage and resolve Closing and Reporting support requests, documenting and tracking these in the designated system.
- Support optimization initiatives for SAP S/4 and legal entities.
- Collaborate with the CORE Optimization project team to develop an exemplary month-end closing schedule.
- Represent the SAP Finance Solutions team in the CORE Optimization project, offering expertise in SAP Financial Reporting, SAP Closing processes, and Joint Venture Accounting throughout the Design, Test, and Cutover phases.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- A Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance) or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working with SAP, preferably within the Canadian petroleum sector.
- Prior experience in systems analysis and business process enhancement.
- Advanced skills in managing SAP Financial Master Data and querying backend tables.
Desirable:
- CPA designation.
- Familiarity with SAP Business Warehouse (BW/BOBJ), PowerBI, SAP Group Reporting, and similar upload tools.
