Job Summary:

Barminco is seeking an experienced Underground Shift Supervisor to join our team at the Hemlo Operations. As a key member of our mining team, you will be responsible for supervising underground production and development mining crews to achieve rapid development targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of underground production and development mining crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and standard operating procedures, promoting a positive safety culture within the team.
  • Provide front-line supervision, motivation, and feedback to workers on the production and development crews.
  • Coordinate jumbo activities, manage the bolt, screen, and boring process, and oversee mucking, drilling, and hauling operations to maintain productivity and deliver on client and company KPIs.
  • Conduct daily safety interactions and administration, mentoring the workforce in best practices and driving positive standards.
  • Handover completed development drifts to the production team for stoping activities.
  • Collaborate with various departments to improve working conditions and increase productivity.
  • Facilitate the implementation of new technologies and work practices at Hemlo.
  • Write production reports and lead crew line-up meetings.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to working safely and ensuring the safety of others.
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of underground mining experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Rapid development mining experience is an asset, particularly with bolt/mesh/drill cycle with jumbo.
  • Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
