About the Role

Metrolinx is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Director to join our Capital Projects Group - Rapid Transit team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain and vendor-related strategies, as well as supporting the development and resolution of commercial approaches practices at a programmatic level across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize value and minimize risk to Metrolinx.
  • Lead the development and implementation of procurement documents and oversee contract negotiations and governance.
  • Collaborate with the project team to establish key commercial terms and manage the procurement process through the development phase.
  • Support or lead negotiations to transition into the implementation phase.
  • Direct and lead the Rapid Transit commercial management team throughout the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring effective programmatic/project commercial integration and risk management.
  • Identify emerging commercial hot topics, issues, and risks, report contractual claims, and lead the management and resolution of legal and/or commercial disputes.
Requirements
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in major infrastructure development, construction, and/or operational environment with experience and measured success in the application of commercial management methodology in the context of major, complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in developing, structuring, procuring, negotiating, and implementing progressive contracts, including leading commercial negotiations to deliver target price objectives and risk analysis/allocation in complex infrastructure contracts.
  • Detailed understanding of different procurement strategies and project delivery models (traditional, P3, and collaborative) and the associated benefits and risk transfer implications.
  • Transit experience is preferred, including expert knowledge of transit-related risks across construction, design, engineering, and/or commercial management.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, professional or technical practices and precedents.
