Job Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse is a key member of our healthcare team, providing high-quality nursing care to residents in our long-term care facility. As a valued member of Simcoe County, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate RPN to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized nursing care to residents, adhering to established standards and recognized nursing principles.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to identify resident needs and develop effective care plans.
  • Assess resident conditions, recognizing and interpreting symptoms and signs, and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of medications and proper care of equipment.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive environment, fostering good relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including resident charts and incident reports.
  • Organize and delegate duties to support staff, promoting a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training, staying up-to-date with best practices and industry developments.
  • Adhere to resident safety principles and practices, following all safe work procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare practices and procedures, obtained through a Registered Practical Nurse Diploma.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, and TB testing as per Public Health requirements.
  • Proof of annual CPR recertification.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Registered Practical Nurse, with a preference for experience in geriatrics or long-term care nursing facilities.
Working Conditions

This position is located in a long-term care facility, with exposure to illnesses and germs possible on a daily basis. The work schedule will be determined, with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Compensation

As per the collective agreement or non-union job band.
