About the Role
The SAIT Athletics and Recreation department is seeking part-time hourly staff to support our services as Wellness Centre Assistants. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to student engagement and the competitive aspirations that make up a larger SAIT experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals entering the Wellness Centre
- Perform reception duties, including telephone and online interactions
- Set up rooms for bookings, which may include lifting or moving light furniture
- Assist members and respond to their questions
- Perform laundry services and locker/change room duties as required
- Conduct inventory controls for all sport programs and activities
- Set up, take down, and sign out equipment as required by facility users
- Ensure a professional appearance, communication, and client interaction
- Problem-solve and escalate conflicts as required
- Access, process, and manage membership reporting
- Facility Stewardship
- Clean and maintain exercise equipment
- Stock, rack, and sanitize fitness studio and lifting center equipment
- Manage access controls, student card, and membership validation
- Open doors, lock up spaces, and create a safe and welcoming environment
- Tape rooms and squash courts as required
- Monitor and service the ESport studio as required
- Compliance
- Process financial transactions, sales, and petty cash handling
- Register and promote programs
- Rent and manage equipment, sign-out, inventory, and storage
- Address health, safety, and environment expectations and identify risks
- Work in accordance with Respect in the Workplace certification
- Contribute as part of a team of part-time workers from diverse backgrounds
- Support all activity programs as required, including drop-in and free play
- Technical Skills and Safety
- Have a working knowledge of fitness equipment, audio/video, and related operating procedures and cleaning protocols
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve as required
- Provide fitness equipment orientations as requested
- Be comfortable with first aid training and responses as required
- Work in accordance with Alberta Health and Safety regulations
- Collaboration
- Support facility booking and related customer interface as organized by the team in Conference Services
- Provide support to the Facilities Management department as requested
- Enhance program support as a team member of Trojans Athletics and Recreation
- Perform other collaborative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Completion of the 12th grade or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Previous customer service experience
- First aid and CPR considered an asset
- Respect in Sport considered an asset
- Knowledge of the layout of the Campus Centre and its rules and regulations
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public and student body
- Ability to notice and report anything out of the ordinary that might result in loss or damage to property
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Students preferred
